A Psalm of David

The Lord is my shepherd.

Six verses to read slowly. Rest here awhile.

Begin

Verse one

Yahweh is my shepherd: I shall lack nothing.

You are known, led, and cared for by the Shepherd who never loses sight of you.

Verse two

He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.

Receive the rest you do not have to earn.

Verse three

He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

The One who guides you is also the One who restores you.

Verse four

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

The valley is not the end of the path. You do not walk it alone.

Verse five

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over.

Even here, there is a table. Even now, the cup overflows.

Verse six

Surely goodness and loving kindness shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in Yahweh’s house forever.

You are being followed by mercy, and you are being led home.

The Shepherd is with you.
Rest in his care.
